Abstract

Construction industry workers are exposed to adverse safety conditions, both physical and mental, which can have adverse consequences on their emotional well-being. Therefore, this research aims to expose the severe traumatic events (STEs) to which these workers are exposed and their relationship with the work environment, workplace violence, and the context in which they live. To obtain information, reference guides I, III, and V, suggested by the Mexican Official Standard 035 (NOM-035-STPS-2018), were applied to workers from three construction industry companies located in Mexico City. This approach aims to identify the STEs that most frequently occur and affect these workers. The conclusion reached from the results indicates that there are consequences of exposure to STEs derived from the contextual violence experienced by the workers under investigation.
