Social housing policy in Mexico; effectiveness and social impact

In 2020, the Federal Government recognized that currently existing 650,000 abandoned homes in Mexico as a result of an expansive social housing policy that left aside the needs of individuals, which is why it promotes the development of research aimed at designing, developing and implementing a public policy social housing based poverty human needs of people.
This article shows the results of the analysis of the effectiveness of the social housing policy in Mexico, through the synthetic-analytic method and the multivariate analysis, the knowledge of the policy process and the knowledge in the process are evaluated, showing that the social housing policy.
In addition, to reduce the housing gap with a national average of 30%, however it was not homogeneous; there are still municipalities with 100% of their homes in a gap.
With the multivariate analysis, a low level of effectiveness of the policy social housing in solving the problem is concluded. It has been proposed to propel a differentiated housing policy that considers the financial needs, spaces, labor restrictions and roles of extended nuclear households, single parents headed by women and men.
