The constant search for the best results is a priority issue in any organizational agenda, so, in addition to making efficient use of tangible resources, the challenge for strategists is to capitalize on the available intangible resources. Therefore, the objective of this manuscript is to determine the relationship between intellectual capital (IC) on organizational performance (OP). The method used was bibliometric analysis using a database of 2,559 scientific articles indexed in Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science, from 1980 to 2019. The results suggest that the study of IC and OP has transcended over the years Since the information presented provides a comprehensive view of the evolution and impact on this topic. Regarding the limitations of this work, the scientific resources used in carrying out the bibliometric analysis (i.e. scientific publications and databases) should be mentioned.
