Abstract

Today, the difficult economic environment continues to pose  major challenges  for Mexican SMEs, so these seek to generate competitive advantage as a key element to remain in the markets. This leads to the search for strategies to survive and adapt to this changing environment by identifying and exploiting the resources and capabilities of value generators.

Thus,  this research   aims  to  identify resources and capabilities, determinants of success of the SMEs, in Victoria City, Tamaulipas, which represent a major sector  in the  growth of a country. The empirical study was carried out of a questionnaire to 84 managers of commercial and service sectors to identify the characteristics  of firms in Victoria City and the determinants of success; determining intangibles are  the  basis  of competitiveness in Ciudad Victoria.
