Organizational culture is a concept that refers to relations among employees of an organization, and is an ideal complement to the entrepreneurial culture that defines the characteristics of entrepreneurs in their role as promoters of economic development through the generation, management of family- owned production units. Our aim was to characterize the organizational culture and entrepreneurship, which enable understanding their dynamics and development of appropriate requirements for competitive development. Semi structured interviews to owners and members of ten family businesses were applied. Data through a hermeneutic unit and ontosemiotic networks were analyzed, leading to resultant theoretical propositions to both organizational and cultural factors that influence the business development of the organizations studied.
The results show that the importance of organizational culture lies on the creation of behaviors, beliefs, rituals and forms of peaceful coexistence and the care of jobs beyond an economic purpose, in a social sense.
