Analysis of the programs of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples aimed at entrepreneurship in indigenous peoples of Mexico

The preservation of traditional clothing is fundamental in the construction of each people’s cultural identity. In several communities, the original clothing is no longer being worn; there is a transition to changing the dress style in the communities. In some cases, clothing has been forgotten. The objective of this work is to promote strategies for the rescue and conservation of traditional clothing in the community of San Pedro Mixtepec, Miahuatlán, through the Solidarity Economy. The applied methodology is the qualitative approach, design of Participatory Action Research (IAP) and the ethnographic method. The results show that only women over 80 wear some of the traditional clothing. In the case of men’s clothing, no men were found to wear it; there is no historical photograph of it, only evidence of its design and use. Therefore, the use of clothing was promoted through the dance of the bakers, its design was documented and cultural workshops were held that promoted awareness and awareness of its protection. The rescue, conservation and promotion of clothing strengthened local culture.
